Beyond the balcony of the house the real Cuba passes by. You just need to go down the stairs to - not feel - but be part of that life. No other place offers you this experience.
Casa Mercedes is a true "Colonial" casa with high ceiling, and walkways separation from the living space to the bedrooms, assuring you of a great tranquility.
The casa particular offers two clean rooms with baths opening on the patio allowing privacy. The rooms have air-conditioning, fans, hot water 24/7.
You will sleep in all tranquility in the center of Old Havana.
The rooms are 25 - 30 Peso Convertible or its Euro equivalent depending on the season.
The house is at walking distance from all the sight of Habana Vieja. La Floradita (the daiquiri place of Hemingway) is two blocks away as is El Capitolio. Hotels, bars and restaurants are close by.
Mercedes provides a great breakfast for a couple of dollars. Other meals are available as well at your request.

We LOVED staying at the Casa of Jorge and Mercedes. Their Casa is exquisite and it feels just like home. They are so welcoming...inviting us to drinks on New Year's Eve. My youngest daughter got food poisoning and was in bed for a day. Mercedes insisted on taking care of her while we got out to tour for a bit. They went above and beyond to make our stay so very memorable.

I have now stayed at Casa Mercedes twice. Once in April 2010 with friends, and just recently for New Years weekend (2010/11) with my family.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful place to stay. Great location, warm hospitality, simple and clean accommodation.
Mercedes and Jorge are excellent hosts. They were very helpful and forthcoming with information, eg what to see and how best to get there.
The breakfast is good - coffee, eggs made to order, fresh fruit, and toast.
I found the price very reasonable considering the prime location.
I would recommend Casa Mercedes to anyone, and have already referred a few of my friends there.

I stayed at Casa Mercedes in February, 2011. I could not have wished for a better place in all of Havana. The location was excellent, the street is very safe and we were close to everything we wanted to see. Jorge, Mercedes and their staff were excellent. We felt comfortable and welcomed by them all. Breakfast was wonderful and our room and the entire house is immaculate. Thank-you again Mercedes!!!!

ReplyDeleteOur adventure began in Havana at Mrs. Mercedes. Care for our arrival at the airport, so we arrived at their home without any problems. All were very friendly. It was felt their warmth. Zoja, my daughter is 5 years old and was captivated by the friendliness of its people. She liked to explore Havana. At Casa Mercedes and Jorge we felt like at home. Mrs. Mercedes helped us to organized/redommend casas in other cities in Cuba, because we're traveling alone. Her assistance was invaluable, as we have both Baraco, Santiago, Trinidad, Camaguey and Cienfeguosu all arranged and we were the hosts waited at the bus stop. Also discover the Havana was very leisurely, as we have made excellent information, where to go and the driver, we were called, when we went out of town.
We sincerely thank you for contributing to our unforgettable adventure.

We stayed at Casa Mercedes this year, the first week in January. What wonderful and welcoming people! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay with them very much. Everyone was so helpful with any thing that we needed. We saw other casa particulars when we were in Havana and Casa Mercedes was the best by far. Location is great too. Highly recommend !
